Burton Constable Hall

Burton Constable Hall has a huge amount of history behind it. The original tower was built on the site in the 12th Century to protect the local village before the original manor house was built in the late 15th Century. This was then demolished and rebuilt into the Elizabethan Hall that still stands today in the 1560’s. Throughout the following centuries much of the house was remodelled and rebuilt depending on the successive generations tastes.

Burton Constable Hall has been linked to the Constable family since they acquired the original tower through marriage in 1190 and became their primary residence in 1568 when their original home in Halsham was destroyed by fire. The house today is still partly a private residence, with the rest still furnished with original magnificent artefacts and antiques.

Staff still to this day talk of the strange happenings and activities within the walls of the house. This is a venue that is not to be missed and will only take place once a year!
